| Analyte description | Apolipoprotein A1 (apoA1) is the main protein component of high-density lipoprotein particles (HDL). ApoA1 (28 kD) is mainly produced in the liver and exported into circulation where it acquires lipids and becomes HDL. A high level of apoA1 is considered protective against atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. The normal concentration of apoA1 in human plasma is approximately 0.8-2.2 g/L. |
