Intended use

This ELISA Pro kit is intended for the quantification of human IL-13 in serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants. For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.

Serum/Plasma samples

The ELISA diluent included in this kit blocks heterophilic antibodies from cross-linking the assay antibodies, thereby preventing false-positive read-outs. Heterophilic antibodies are commonly found in human serum/plasma and can also be present in other species. The ELISA diluent has been validated using serum/plasma samples from healthy human blood donors.

Sensitivity	1 pg/ml The lowest concentration that can be detected, but not necessarily quantified with precision and accuracy. This was determined by adding 15 standard deviations to the mean OD of background wells.

Analyte description	Interleukin 13 (IL-13) is produced by Th2-type cells, mast cells, and NK cells in response to activation. It regulates the secretion of IgE by B cells and the Th2-type cell development and suppresses inflammatory responses by regulation of macrophage function.
