What's new?

We are adding a totally new antibody pair to capture mouse IL-1β to our product portfolio. These mAbs are the core in the corresponding ELISA and ELISpot kits. To our knowledge, this ELISpot kit is the first of its kind on the market.

Why investigate IL-β secretion?

Interleukin 1ß is a proinflammatory cytokine and inducer of acute phase responses. IL-1β has downstream effects on innate and adaptive immunity. For example, IL-1β affects T cell activation and cytokine production, B cell activation and antibody production, prostaglandin synthesis, neutrophil influx and activation. IL-1ß is produced primarily by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells after induction by microbes.
IL-1β production is a two-step process, each being controlled by different stimuli. First, a proprotein (pro-IL1B) is produced and stored in the cytosol. This priming is stimulated by inflammatory signals, such as LPS. Secondly, extra signals are required for inflammasome formation. The inflammasome activates caspase 1, which proteolytically processes pro-IL1B to its active form for secretion.
