What is IL-18?
IL-18 (Interleukin-18) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine secreted by macrophages, dendritic cells, epithelial cells, and Kupffer cells. Working together with IL-12, it drives IFN-γ production and promotes Th1 and NK cell responses. IL-18 is increasingly important to researchers studying inflammasome biology, autoinflammatory disease, and metabolic disorders.
