What is CXCL2 (MIP-2)?

CXCL2, also known as MIP-2 (Macrophage Inflammatory Protein-2), is an ELR-positive chemokine secreted by macrophages, monocytes, and epithelial cells. Closely related to CXCL1, it signals through CXCR2 to drive neutrophil chemotaxis during acute inflammation and infection. CXCL2 is a useful readout for researchers dissecting neutrophil-mediated innate immunity and early inflammatory responses.
