Apolipoprotein A1 (apoA1) is the main protein component of high density lipoprotein particles (HDL). ApoA1 (28 kD) is mainly produced in the liver and exported into the circulation where it acquires lipids and becomes HDL. High level of apoA1 is regarded as protective against atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. Normal concentration in plasma is 1-2 mg/ml.
Cross-reactivity has been assessed and confirmed with certain non-human primate species. Please consult this comprehensive table for information about cross-reactivities with non-human primates.
